One of the guiding notions underpinning Kunsthalle Bern’s cultural programme concerns thinking together on how we can care and repair our present and bring into being better worlds for future generations. We are committed to uphold these principles in our program, not only by producing concepts and exhibitions that address sustainable ways of living, but also through the use of our building, our energy expenditure, our recycling policies and the involvement of our staff as well as external collaborators and visitors. The building is progressively converting to all LED bulbs. We make use of recyclable and reusable materials in exhibition installations, while print publications are produced using sustainable materials and the amount of copies printed is carefully considered. Our mode of operations for all employees is to encourage sustainable forms of travel. Necessary work-related travel within Switzerland and to neighboring European countries must be made by train wherever possible or car. In cases where air travel is unavoidable, we consult our partners at happymuseums.ch
